Undergraduate Placement Student (01/2/23) Ref : ugps-1-23-2 - Closed
We're looking for an undergraduate Software Engineer to help with our ongoing R&D efforts around AI and Image Recognition. This placement is focused on completeing a set project described below: The project involves the management of rejected SMT components in a prototype PCB environment using AI based technologies. During SMT assembly/production the components being placed by pick & place machines onto the PCBs can periodically be rejected due to failures in image recognition. These components are dropped into a collection bin where manual sorting is required. With the continued miniaturisation of SMT devices this manual process is a time consuming task and prone error, in turn costing money to the business. The aim of this project is to help identify components rejected by the pick and place machines to remove the manual sorting of rejected components and will include the following tasks: On the fly SMT component image classification of SOT, QPF, QFN, BGA using Google TensorFlow in C# .NET environment. Vision Camera Calibration and Control Control of a custom conveyor, flipping and sorting bins Essential Criteria Ability to work independently but also follow instructions when needed Java Software development experience including SWING GUI components TensorFlow (Lite) model development experience Closing Date for application Friday 28th February 2023
